Suitability

The Harry Dabbs Avant GP is a good option for a wide variety of horses, particularly those with a standard wither profile and a typical build. It is often recommended for off-track thoroughbreds due to its tree design, which accommodates their wither and shoulder structure.

Important Note: Saddle fitting is crucial. While a saddle model may be designed for a specific horse type, it's always recommended to have a professional saddle fitter assess both the horse and rider to ensure the best possible fit.

About

Tree: It is built on the popular Harry Dabbs "Avant" tree. This tree is often noted for its suitability for a variety of horses, including those with a more typical thoroughbred or athletic build. It is designed to provide excellent wither clearance and generous shoulder contours.

Panels: Wool-flocked panels, which allow for a custom fit to the horse's back and can be adjusted by a saddle fitter. The panels are also designed for a wide gullet to ensure spinal clearance.

Rider Comfort: The saddle is known for its comfort, often described as having a semi-deep seat and soft knee pads, which helps the rider feel secure without being restricted. It also has a narrow twist, which can help the rider achieve a close contact with the horse.

Versatility: As a general-purpose (GP) saddle, it is designed to be versatile for a variety of activities, including general riding, hacking, flatwork, and jumping.

Blocks: The saddle has adjustable knee and calf blocks, to allow for customization of the rider's leg position.
