Performance Meets Security: The Ideal Oryx Twinflap GP/Jump
The Ideal Oryx is a premium, versatile saddle designed for riders who demand a secure, supportive seat without sacrificing the freedom of a jumping profile. Built on the foundation of the legendary Impala tree, the Oryx offers a refined balance of traditional English craftsmanship and modern sports horse ergonomics.
Product Overview
The Oryx is specifically engineered for riders who participate in multiple disciplines—from show jumping and cross-country to hunting and hacking—but prefer a deeper, more "nested" feel than a standard flat-seated jump saddle. It is the perfect "hybrid" for the rider who wants to jump big fences but also enjoys a long, comfortable hack.
Key Features:
The "Impala" Tree: Built on a proven, anatomical tree that provides a close-contact feel while maintaining excellent clearance.
Deep Seat Profile: Features a semi-deep seat that offers significantly more security and lumbar support than a traditional monoflap.
Twinflap Design: The classic dual-flap construction allows for traditional girthing and a familiar feel for the rider.
Enhanced Leg Support: Equipped with molded knee blocks and fixed calf blocks to provide a "locked-in" feel over fences.
Wool-Flocked Panels: Traditional 100% pure wool flocking allows for easy adjustments and custom fitting to your horse's changing topline.
Luxurious Leather: Crafted from high-grade vegetable-tanned hide for immediate grip and long-lasting durability.
Conformation & Fit Guide
The Ideal Oryx is designed specifically for the "Modern Sports Horse" profile. It is most likely to suit horses with the following conformation:
Moderate to High Withers: The open arch of the tree provides exceptional clearance for Thoroughbreds and Warmbloods with prominent withers.
Athletic Toplines: Best suited for horses with a slight curve to their back. (Note: May not be suitable for very flat, "table-top" Cob-type backs).
Well-Developed Shoulders: The tree points are designed to allow for maximum shoulder rotation, ideal for horses that need freedom to tuck their front end over jumps.
Standard Back Lengths: The generous panel surface area distributes weight evenly across the horse's back, making it a favorite for athletic horses 16hh and above.
Fitter's Note: The Oryx is a highly adaptable saddle. Because it is wool-flocked, a qualified fitter can easily tailor the balance to accommodate your horse's seasonal muscle development.
5 | Brand New: Pristine condition, often with tags still attached. Showroom quality with zero wear.
4 | Very good: Lightly used with minimal signs of wear (like faint stirrup leather marks). The leather is supple, the tree is sound, and it has been exceptionally well cared for.
3 | Good: Showing standard, normal signs of regular use. May have cosmetic scuffs, moderate stirrup leather wear, or slight discoloration, but it is entirely structurally sound and ready to ride.
2 | Fair: Well-loved with noticeable wear. May have deeper scratches, heavier leather fading, or minor cosmetic blemishes, but the tree and safety components are completely intact. A great budget-friendly, functional option.
1 | As-Is / TLC Needed: Heavy wear or significant cosmetic damage. May need minor repairs (like flocking, a new billet, or stitching) before hitting the trails. Still functional, but priced accordingly.
