Suitability & About This Saddle
The NSC Enigma Monoflap Jump Saddle is specifically engineered to suit wide, flat-backed horses—particularly those that are traditionally difficult to stabilize.
Thanks to its specialized tree and panel design, it is an exceptional match for the following horse profiles and fitting challenges:
Wide and Flat Toplines: It is built on a "keyhole" tree design and features flat, felt-lined panels that sit beautifully on horses with flatter, broader backs (such as wider Warmbloods, specialized cobs, or native crosses) without rolling or rocking.
Horses that Push Saddles Forward: If your horse has a powerful, active shoulder that tends to "shove" traditional jump saddles forward into the neck, the Enigma is designed to have an excellent purchase behind the shoulder blade. It anchors itself securely, staying stable and clear of the scapula.
The "Barrel" Shape: Monoflap saddles naturally excel on rounder horses because they eliminate bulk, but the Enigma specifically prevents the lateral slipping or rolling that often happens on wide, barrel-shaped horses.
Rider Benefit Tip:
Usually, a saddle wide enough to fit a flat-backed horse forces the rider's hips into a wide, uncomfortable position. However, because the Enigma's tree utilizes a narrow twist, it gives the rider a narrower, more streamlined feel in the seat, even when sitting on a very wide horse.
Key Features & Benefits
Monoflap Design: Provides close contact between rider and horse, allowing for better communication and feel during jumping and flatwork
Forward Cut: Designed with a forward-cut flap to accommodate the jumping position and allow lower leg autonomy
Wool and Felt Panels: Constructed with both wool and felt for extra stability, close contact, and lower maintenance requirements
Versatile Fit: The Enigma fits a remarkably wide range of horses, making it an excellent choice for riders with multiple horses or those seeking a reliable all-around saddle
Excellent for Riders: The grippy seat and balanced design make this saddle suitable for both amateur and experienced riders
Important Note: Saddle fitting is crucial. While the NSC Enigma is designed to accommodate a wide range of horse types, it's always recommended to have a professional saddle fitter assess both the horse and rider to ensure the best possible fit.
5 | Brand New: Pristine condition, often with tags still attached. Showroom quality with zero wear.
4 | Very good: Lightly used with minimal signs of wear (like faint stirrup leather marks). The leather is supple, the tree is sound, and it has been exceptionally well cared for.
3 | Good: Showing standard, normal signs of regular use. May have cosmetic scuffs, moderate stirrup leather wear, or slight discoloration, but it is entirely structurally sound and ready to ride.
2 | Fair: Well-loved with noticeable wear. May have deeper scratches, heavier leather fading, or minor cosmetic blemishes, but the tree and safety components are completely intact. A great budget-friendly, functional option.
1 | As-Is / TLC Needed: Heavy wear or significant cosmetic damage. May need minor repairs (like flocking, a new billet, or stitching) before hitting the trails. Still functional, but priced accordingly.
