Suitability

  • Horses needing Shoulder Freedom: The "freedom panels" and shorter gullet plate bars are specifically aimed at horses that benefit from maximum shoulder movement. This makes it a good option for horses with well-developed shoulders or those that might be restricted by saddles with traditional tree points.

  • Horses with Good Back Musculature: The panels are designed for a smooth and optimal fit, which generally works well on horses with a reasonably well-developed and consistent topline.

  • Horses with Changing Shapes: The adjustable gullet is a key benefit, allowing the saddle to be adapted as the horse's muscle condition or age changes. This makes it a versatile choice for competition horses whose fitness levels may fluctuate.

  • Horses Requiring Close Contact: The narrow twist of the saddle makes it suitable for riders who prefer a close feel to their horse, which translates well to horses with an average to narrower build through the barrel.

About

  • Rider Comfort and Close Contact: It features a narrow twist, allowing for close and direct contact with the horse. The wide, soft saddle tree offers ample room for the rider, and features like softly doubled skirts, soft knee inserts, and sporty calf blocks are designed to provide a secure and stable position over fences and during cross-country riding.

  • PS Saddle Tree: Passier saddles typically use their PS saddle tree, which is designed for flexibility and durability. The rear area of the saddle tree is often enlarged in this model to promote maximum freedom of movement for the horse.

  • Freedom Panels: A significant feature is the "freedom panels" with a gusseted panel at the front. These panels are designed to ensure a smooth fit on the horse's back and optimize freedom of movement, particularly around the shoulder. Passier emphasizes that their gullet plate bars are shorter to provide optimal shoulder freedom.

  • Adjustable Gullet: Passier saddles are known for having an adjustable gullet plate width that can be precisely modified by a qualified saddler. This allows for fine-tuning the fit to the horse's changing shape.

  • Quality Materials: Made with high-quality leathers like Selloil Leather and Natural Grip leather, ensuring durability and a good feel.

  • Durability and Warranty: Passier saddles are handcrafted with rigorous quality control, and their saddle trees often come with a substantial warranty (e.g., 5 years for PS trees, 10 years for synthetic trees).
