Shoulder Freedom: The most significant innovation is the design of the StrideFree tree itself, which aims to allow complete and unrestricted movement of the horse's shoulder blade (scapula). Traditional saddle trees often have "points" that can impinge on the shoulder, restricting stride length and causing discomfort. The StrideFree tree has rounded corners where traditional tree points would be, and a wider load-bearing surface to eliminate pinching of the trapezius muscle.
Adjustable Gullet: All Peter Horobin saddles with the StrideFree tree have an adjustable gullet that can be easily modified on-site by a qualified saddle fitter. This allows the saddle to be adjusted to suit the changing shape of a horse over time, or even to fit different horses.
Flexibility: The tree is made from a strong and flexible synthetic composite that moves and flexes with the horse's movements.
Wool Flocked Panels: The saddles typically feature wool-flocked panels, which are natural, breathable, and can be easily adjusted (re-flocked) by a saddle fitter to mold to the horse's shape.
